Terms of Service

Last updated: July 12, 2026

Acceptance of these terms

By visiting Pet Legacy Guide or submitting a memorial, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

What Pet Legacy Guide is

Pet Legacy Guide is a free, informational resource for pet loss and end-of-life planning. We offer:

  • A directory of pet end-of-life services (cemeteries, crematoriums, mobile euthanasia veterinarians, preservation specialists, and living memorials)
  • Educational guides about the decisions, the process, and the grief that comes with losing a companion animal
  • A Wall of Remembrance where anyone can create a free, permanent memorial page for a pet

No accounts, ever

Pet Legacy Guide does not use user accounts, logins, or passwords, and we have no plans to add them. Memorial submissions and directory corrections are handled through the forms and contact address on this site, not through a personal account.

The service directory is informational only

Directory listings are gathered and organized to help you find services in your area. We do our best to keep listings accurate, but we do not independently verify every business's licensing, pricing, availability, or quality of service, and a listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee. Always contact a business directly and confirm details before making a decision, especially during a difficult and time-sensitive moment.

Submitting a memorial

When you submit a memorial (a pet's name, story, and a photo), you confirm that the photo and story are yours to share, or that you have permission to share them, and you grant Pet Legacy Guide a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the site for as long as the memorial remains published. You retain ownership of what you submit.

Every submission is automatically screened for prohibited content and malware, and reviewed by a real person, before it is published. We may decline to publish, or later remove, any submission for any reason, including but not limited to the prohibited content described below. Because the Wall of Remembrance is built as a set of permanent pages, please treat publication as lasting; if you need something corrected or removed later, contact us (see below) and we'll help.

Prohibited content

Please don't submit content that:

  • Is sexually explicit or contains nudity
  • Contains graphic violence or gore unrelated to the natural, respectful depiction of a pet who has passed away
  • Contains hate speech, hateful symbols, or harassment directed at any person or group
  • Endangers or exploits a minor
  • Is spam, an advertisement, or unrelated to a pet memorial
  • Infringes someone else's copyright or other rights
  • Is false or intended to mislead

Not veterinary or medical advice

Nothing on this site is veterinary, medical, legal, or financial advice. Guides and directory descriptions are general information only. Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your pet's health, including end-of-life decisions.

Intellectual property

The Pet Legacy Guide name, logo, and original guide content are ours. Directory descriptions are compiled from public information and licensed sources. Memorial content remains the property of the person who submitted it, subject to the license described above.

Third-party links

This site links to third-party websites, maps, and businesses we don't control. We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those third parties. Visiting a linked site is at your own discretion.

Limitation of liability

Pet Legacy Guide is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, including reliance on directory information or guide content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless applicable consumer-protection law in your country gives you the right to a different forum.
